Job summary

Wabtec Railway Electronics in Germantown, MD is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to develop innovative mechanical systems for freight and transit railroads worldwide, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, software, system and test engineers.

You will drive 3D modeling (Creo or SolidWorks), design for high‑vibration environments, electronics packaging and thermal management, and lead complete lifecycle development from concept to validation while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience with a strong background in product design and development.
• Proficient in 3D modeling and Creo or SolidWorks.
• Designed mechanical systems for high-vibration environments in transportation.
• Strong background in electronics packaging and thermal management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, estimations, analysis, development and validation of complex mechanical systems and components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of mechanical, electrical, and software.
• Provide sound engineering estimates of labor and material expenses for new projects.
• Evaluate 3rd party mechanical and electromechanical products and oversee testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in mechanical engineering.
