Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to design and develop mechanical systems for high-vibration environments in the railroad industry. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a strong background in product design and development.
• Proficient in 3D modeling and Creo or SolidWorks.
• Proven expertise in designing mechanical systems for high-vibration environments, such as those found in transportation applications.
• Experience in solving complex technical and quality problems.
• Strong background in electronics packaging and thermal management.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
• Perform a complete lifecycle product development by leading the design, estimations, analysis, development and validation of complex mechanical systems and components.
• Utilize 3D modeling and simulation tools to optimize product designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Work with suppliers on product development activities and assisting with the resolution of component quality challenges.
• Provide sound engineering estimates of labor and material expenses for new projects.
• Evaluate 3rd party mechanical and electromechanical products by generating validation plans and overseeing testing.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Continuously research and implement the latest mechanical engineering best practices and technologies.
