Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Greenville, SC, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design, development and industrialization of new products. You will lead from concept through production, employ 3D modeling in SolidWorks, perform FEA, GD&T, and manage prototypes and cost considerations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, 3+ years of design experience, and strong manufacturing process knowledge. Occasional travel and cross-functional collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
• 3+ years’ mechanical design experience preferred.
• Proven track record of new product designs that are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Understanding of FEA and FMEA.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to engineering design.
• Experience with sheet metal and casted components.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products, equipment and systems from concept to production.
• Prototype, test, and validate designs; prepare specifications.
• Create bills of materials and drawings for prototypes.
• Estimate manufacturing costs and support product profitability.
• Build and test prototypes and ensure quality specifications.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing, quality, and marketing teams.
• Support industrialization of new products and equipment.
