Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an experienced engineer for the Bus Solutions division to lead mechanical design initiatives across door systems, wheelchair lifts, and other bus-related product lines. You will collaborate with peers to design, develop, and ensure regulatory compliance while steering projects from concept to production launches.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering with ABET accreditation, 6+ years of relevant transportation experience, and hands-on involvement in design decisions,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (master’s preferred; ABET-accredited).
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Basic project management skills and ability to lead engineering based small sized projects or parts of projects.
• Experience with development of mechanical based systems in transportation.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design of systems and components including engineering & manufacturing principles, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems per customer and technical requirements.
• Make design decisions that impact product performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Contribute to innovation, patents, or process improvement and support engineering designs from concept through production launch.
• Participate in DFMEA sessions to identify and mitigate design risks and follow APQP/NPD processes to ensure successful product launches.
• Participate in or lead root cause analysis and support implementation of corrective actions.
• Evaluate specifications and performance needs to deliver cost-effective and collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain for DFM/DFA alignment.
