The City of Harrisonburg is seeking a Transit Supervisor (Day Shift) to lead bus operators and support the Transit division in planning and scheduling services. This full-time, non-exempt role comes with benefits and a targeted hourly range of $26.67–$29.34.
Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of experience in bus operations and customer service, plus a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL by training end.

The Transit Supervisor is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $26.67 - $29.34 per hour (equivalent to $55,473 - $61,027 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City Policy Section 3: Compensation.
As the Transit Supervisor on the day shift, you'll perform a variety of technical duties, including but not limited to supervising bus operators, providing assistance in the operation of the Transit division, planning and scheduling transportation services, assisting the Transit Superintendent, and operating a transit and paratransit bus as needed. You're the ideal candidate for this position if you possess leadership skills and understand the importance of promoting teamwork and safety in all aspects of transit operations.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for peripheral vision, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
This position is subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
