Job summary

The Service Planner in Quincy, MA coordinates daily service by maintaining and adjusting run-cut schedules in Spare to reflect forecasted demand, driver availability, and MBTA expectations. This role sits at the core of day-to-day planning, linking dispatch, service providers, and MBTA to ensure on-time, balanced service.

You will monitor service hours, publish adjusted schedules around holidays or events, collaborate with DSPs, review coverage gaps, and update planning documentation.

Qualifications

• Intermediate Excel skills for shift expansion, visualizations and schedule modeling.
• Basic SQL knowledge for extracting service data.
• Familiarity with Spare (current + future state, including import/export).
• Ability to interpret operational KPIs and modify schedules based on performance insights.
• Strong communication and collaboration with DSPs, MBTA, and internal TRAC departments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Daily Run-Cuts: Update and manage run‑cuts in Spare to reflect service changes, route modifications, updated driver availability, and operational needs.
• Service Hour Tracking: Monitor planned vs. delivered service hours and document variances for internal and MBTA reporting.
• Coverage Monitoring: Review unscheduled and unassigned trips daily and alert MBTA and DSPs to coverage gaps.
• Holiday & Reduced Service Planning: Build and publish adjusted schedules around holidays or special events.
• Operational Adjustments: Make small-scale changes throughout the week to improve balance, service quality, and efficiency.
• DSP Coordination: Collaborate with Dedicated Service Providers to ensure their schedules align with run‑cut requirements, garage locations, vehicle types, seat capacities, and MBTA guidance.
