Job summary

Transdev in Sussex, Delaware is seeking a Transit Safety Manager to lead safety programs, ensure federal/state/local compliance, and drive continuous improvement for employee, passenger, and public safety. The role involves risk assessments, incident investigations, and training program oversight.

The position emphasizes leadership, collaboration with clients, and ensuring audits pass with robust safety documentation. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or leadership experience.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and regulatory compliance programs preferred.
• Knowledge of FTA PTASP requirements and OSHA/DOT risk management.
• Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate safety policies and procedures.
• Establish and enforce local safety policies and performance standards.
• Monitor compliance with FTA, DOT, OSHA, and state regs.
• Coordinate annual safety program reviews and updates.
• Provide classroom and behind‑the‑wheel instruction in vehicle operation and safety.
• Document training activities and maintain records; audit readiness.
• Lead safety meetings and manage drug/alcohol program compliance.
• Manage injury prevention, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation measures.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and auditors.
