Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks an Assistant Project Manager for the LIRR to oversee capital project delivery within the Delivery/LIRR unit. The role ensures safe, on-schedule, and budget-compliant execution, coordinating with staff, contractors, and agency resources.

You will monitor project status, manage risks and issues, and support the Project Manager with field oversight, procurement, and documentation. The position allows telework up to one day per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• FE/EIT certificate desirable.
• A PE or RA license is desirable.
• PMP and CCM certifications are preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Mentor staff to deliver complex capital projects.
• Coordinate project activities through close-out.
• Monitor performance against baselines and pursue improvements.
• Identify issues/risks and ensure timely resolution.
• Recommend solutions to senior management for critical issues.
• Coordinate with project team, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with requirements, standards, and regulations.
• Maintain project documentation and reporting.
