Job summary

The Assistant Project Manager oversees capital project delivery within the LIRR unit of MTA Construction & Development. You’ll help ensure safety, schedule, and budget alignment, and that work meets contract documents, policies, and guidelines.

You will monitor progress, identify risks, assist the Project Manager with coordination, field oversight, and inspections, and liaise with staff, contractors, consultants, and agency teams to support timely, quality project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or PM, Business Administration, Transportation, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• FE/EIT, PE/RA, PMP/CCM are desirable/preferred credentials.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient computer skills (Windows, MS Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor staff to deliver complex capital projects.
• Coordinate project activities through close-out.
• Monitor performance against baselines and pursue improvements.
• Identify issues/risks and ensure timely resolutions.
• Recommend solutions to senior management for critical issues.
• Coordinate with staff, contractors, consultants, and agency forces.
