Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation's Transit Development (TD) unit seeks Transportation Specialist candidates to support the NYC Streets Plan and Bus Action Plan. The role involves planning, design and implementation of bus-priority projects, with coordination across TD and MTA.

You will engage communities through public workshops and coordinate with stakeholders to improve transit operations and pedestrian access.

Qualifications

Master's degree in transportation engineering, mathematics, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, or related fields.
BS in engineering with 1 year of experience in roadway transportation and traffic studies or area-wide traffic programs.
BS with two years of related experience as described above.
Assoc degree / 60 semester credits with four years of related experience.
HS diploma or equivalent with six years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with planning, design and implementation of in-house bus priority projects.
Provide conceptual design and design reviews for capital projects.
Perform planning analysis to improve bus stops and pedestrian access to transit.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including MTA, on transit planning efforts.
Engage in outreach with the public, community boards, and public workshops; occasional evening/weekend work.
