Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an experienced Transit Superintendent to lead and supervise transit operations supporting laboratory transportation needs. You will direct routes, schedules, dispatch, and resources while ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance.

You will develop, evaluate, and optimize transit services, coordinate with Fleet Management and support organizations, and oversee staff training and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in transit, passenger transportation, fleet, or related operations.
• Ability to plan, assign, direct, and oversee daily transit operations in a complex environment.
• Knowledge of safety practices, transportation safety requirements, and work-control principles.
• Experience providing field oversight, evaluating work, and implementing corrective actions.
• Supervisory experience including scheduling, direction, development, and accountability.
• Strong communication with employees, management, customers, and partners.
• Ability to prepare and present operational reports and plans.
• Experience with computerized work-management, dispatch, route-planning, GPS/AVL, or fleet-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee transit operations to meet Laboratory transportation requirements.
• Plan, assign, and direct daily transit activities including routes, schedules, and resources.
• Develop and optimize routes based on demand, conditions, and requirements; ensure safe execution.
• Provide field oversight and monitor performance; implement corrective actions.
• Supervise personnel, provide direction and development, evaluate performance and training.
• Maintain safety and security as integral to all transit activities and collaboration with stakeholders.
