Job summary

MBTA in Boston is seeking a graduate intern for the Stations, Facilities, & Structures division to support continuous improvement initiatives focused on user-centered, efficient, and collaborative solutions. You will work on projects like turnover processes, office space reservation, and field audit processes, receiving mentorship from department leadership while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This onsite internship is 40 hours per week for at least three months, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Enrolled for the entire duration of the internship in a graduate/master’s degree program.
• Interest in public transportation and operations within a transit agency.
• At least one year of professional experience in planning, operations, policy, engineering, or project management.
• Experience with GIS, data visualization, database management, or related tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead continuous improvement projects in the department.
• Develop robust working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support process development, data analytics, and strategic planning.
• Collect qualitative and quantitative information through various data sources.
• Map business processes and identify areas for simplification and cost reduction.
• Provide data analysis using Excel/Tableau to support decision-making.
• Develop presentations and artifacts such as process maps and SOPs.
