Job summary

Illinois Terminal is seeking a Information Assistant to provide friendly, accurate, and timely information to visitors and callers in Urbana, IL. The role supports route and schedule information, ADA and specialized transit programs, and internal communications.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED and prior customer service experience is preferred. Shifts vary; medical and background checks apply, with comprehensive benefits in place.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and friendly, polite, conscientious demeanor.
• Experience in customer service settings preferred (retail, food service, office reception, or related).

Responsibilities

• Provide MTD service-related information including routes and schedules using Trip Planner and Stop Lookup tools.
• Interact patiently and courteously with the public in normal and conflict situations.
• Act as liaison between customers and Illinois Terminal staff to ensure accurate information is dispensed.
• Receive and distribute mail and internal communications.
• Support administration of bus passes, employee passes, and specialized cards.
• Support ADA Paratransit Service, Half Fare Cab, and Dash Card programs.
