The City of Modesto is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Crewleader to lead maintenance and repair operations for a diverse transit fleet. You will guide a team of skilled mechanics, diagnose complex diesel- and electric-powered systems, and oversee welding, fabrication, and preventive maintenance activities.

This role requires strong supervisory skills, extensive hands-on mechanical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with vendors and City teams.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience over skilled trades staff.
• Experience in welding, fabrication, repair of heavy equipment.
• Ability to plan schedules, train staff, and maintain records.
• Knowledge of diesel/gas engines and heavy-duty components.

Responsabilités

• Plan, prioritize, and review work of staff in transit bus and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Develop schedules and methods to complete work efficiently.
• Inspect and diagnose mechanical faults in buses and equipment.
• Coordinate training and enforce safety and quality standards.
• Maintain records of work time, materials, and repairs.
