The City of Modesto is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Crewleader to lead maintenance and repair operations for a diverse transit fleet. You will supervise a team of skilled mechanics and coordinate preventive maintenance, major repairs, and welding/fabrication tasks.

Responsibilities include diagnosing complex diesel, electric, and hydrogen systems, planning work orders, and ensuring safety and efficiency in a demanding shop environment.

Qualifications

• Four years of increasingly responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Licenses and certificates listed within one year of appointment (Class A/B CDL, EPA A/C, and ASE certifications).

Responsabilités

• Plan, assign, and review work for staff performing skilled maintenance on transit buses and other equipment.
• Schedule maintenance and troubleshoot complex failures.
• Inspect and diagnose mechanical issues on diesel, electric, and gas systems.
• Weld, fabricate, and assemble parts and equipment as needed.
• Maintain records of work, time, and materials.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding fleet status.
