Job summary

Community Transit is seeking an Automotive Lead Journey Mechanic to oversee the maintenance shop’s mechanical functions, diagnose issues, and lead journey mechanics. The role requires managing work orders, ensuring quality, and coordinating with parts and vendor teams to meet fleet expansion needs.

The position emphasizes safety, compliance, and teamwork, with a focus on diesel and gasoline vehicle maintenance, plus the ability to work various shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of journey-level vehicle maintenance experience including diesel or gas repair.
• Must have or obtain within 90 days a WA driver's license and CDL with passenger endorsement and air brake removal.
• Must pass pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Create and monitor work orders; ensure accuracy of work orders and time cards.
• Diagnose malfunctions, perform preventive maintenance, repair and overhaul of equipment in shop or field.
• Oversee journey mechanics; prioritize work to meet agency needs and safety standards.
• Provide technical assistance to troubleshoot repairs and determine direction.
• Oversee Vehicle Service Worker staff; coordinate availability and PM compliance.
• Source parts with the Parts department and assist in vendor inspections and customization.
