Job summary

North County Transit District is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a team of technicians and clerks in maintaining a large bus and sedan fleet. You will supervise, schedule, and coordinate preventive and remedial maintenance, ensuring safety and reliability for daily operations.

Ideal candidates bring at least three years in repair/maintenance with two years in a lead role, plus strong communication and safety leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum three years in repair/maintenance; at least two years at lead level.
• Knowledge of laws, rules, and safety regulations applicable to transit maintenance.
• Strong supervisory and safety leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, schedule, and assign preventive and remedial maintenance for buses, sedans, and related equipment.
• Monitor work orders, accuracy, and completion times; assist technicians as needed.
• Develop and maintain payroll, attendance, and budgets; prepare daily reports.
• Coordinate with Operations to respond to dispatch needs and schedule repairs.
• Implement and maintain safety programs; ensure compliance with environmental and safety policies.
• Approve completed work and conduct follow-up inspections; mentor staff on best practices.
