Job summary

City of Alexandria, LA seeks a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for its Transit buses. The role plans, coordinates, and supervises a diverse team in maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the transit fleet, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with safety standards.

The position oversees a preventive maintenance program, coordinates parts inventory, and guides staff through diagnostics and complex repairs.

Qualifications

Requires five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in automotive and equipment repair.
Must possess a valid class B commercial driver’s license; air brake endorsement.
Additionally, must obtain Louisiana Class B CDL with air brakes and passenger endorsement within 3 months.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, schedule, supervise, assign, review, and inspect transit fleet maintenance activities.
Oversee preventive maintenance program to ensure proper procedures are followed.
Supervise mechanics and auto service workers; diagnose bus/equipment problems and assign repairs.
Maintain inventory of parts, materials, and tools; order supplies as needed.
Develop and implement department safety rules and safety programs.
Assist in budget development and bid specifications for buses and equipment.
Prepare paperwork, reports, and audits for state and city requirements.
