Job summary

LRGVDC – Valley Metro in Weslaco, TX is seeking a Program Specialist I - Dispatcher to guide regional transit operations across five counties. The role includes safety oversight, scheduling, and coordinating bus operator assignments for normal service, events and emergencies.

You will assist with training new operators, support the fare system, and ensure timely information flow to leadership, staff, passengers, and the public.

Qualifications

• Experience in dispatching, customer service, or administrative support.
• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
• Transit experience is generally preferred.
• Knowledge of transit operations, planning, dispatching and scheduling.
• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transit operations by dispatching bus assignments for normal service and emergencies.
• Provide guidance and training to new operators.
• Monitor on-time performance and adjust routes as needed.
• Maintain logs, records, and data for reporting.
• Support fare system troubleshooting with vendors and finance.
