Job summary

Van Buren County Government seeks a Dispatcher to manage weekly ride scheduling, match drivers and vehicles, and create daily manifests. You will coordinate real-time dispatch, assist riders or caregivers, and support operations with accurate records and reporting.

The role requires excellent communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with transit software, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. CDL driving experience and Spanish language ability are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• CDL driving experience in transit bus operations; Spanish as a second language is preferred.
• Excellent public relations skills and customer service; typing min. 30 wpm.
• Training to operate newly acquired software as needed.

Responsibilities

• Take customer requests for service via phone and provide ETA.
• Process and file pre-booked and standing orders.
• Manage multi-line calls and radio dispatch communications.
• Assign clients to vehicles and maintain cradle-to-grave records.
