Job summary

Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), Transit Services Division, seeks Transit Coordinators to oversee Ride On bus operations across Montgomery County. Responsibilities include coordinating routes, directing daily coverage, and ensuring safety, timely service, and high customer satisfaction.

Qualified candidates hold a valid CDL, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to prepare clear reports.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience as a Transit Bus Operator.
• A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements.
• Graduation from high school or possession of a High School Certificate of completion recognized in Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Assign buses to Bus Operators daily and ensure full coverage of all scheduled service.
• Communicate with Bus Operators to act on reports involving vehicle condition, breakdowns, crashes, and delays.
• Investigate and document crashes, injuries, or hazards; respond to emergencies.
• Provide customer service to riders and resolve disputes on buses, at stops and terminals.
• Prepare clear, detailed reports and provide testimony as needed for reviews or legal proceedings.
• Operate a transit bus during emergencies to maintain service coverage.
• Use radios and digital tools to maintain real-time communication and complete reports.
• Monitor Operator performance for safety and service adherence.
• Coordinate with Central Communications, maintenance, and emergency services to restore operations.
