Job summary

Luster National in Washington, DC seeks Construction Inspectors of various levels to support large transit capital programs, including light rail and bus corridors, stations, tunnels, and trackwork. You will verify conformance to contract documents and codes and produce daily field records used in quantity, change, and claim settlements.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, OSHA-30, and 5+ years of inspection experience on major infrastructure, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering technology, civil engineering, or construction-related field or equivalent experience.
• Active OSHA-30 certification.
• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on large, complex infrastructure projects.
• Inspection experience in at least one core discipline (civil/structural, building, electrical, mechanical, utility, or roofing).
• Experience preparing daily inspection reports, quantity records, and nonconformance documentation on publicly funded projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs and submittals; familiarity with submittal processes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities for conformance with contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and design standards.
• Prepare accurate daily inspection reports covering labor, equipment, materials, weather, safety observations, and locations.
• Identify nonconforming work and document it in the daily report.
• Verify materials on delivery against submittals and delivery tickets; ensure proper storage and handling.
• Witness field sampling and testing; track results and deficiencies through closure.
• Record pay quantities to support progress payments and document field conditions for changes.
• Monitor contractor compliance with traffic control, safety, environmental, and erosion controls.
• Coordinate daily inspection coverage with project staff and staffing plans.
• Support survey verification, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
• Coordinate with contractor, design teams, utilities, and stakeholders during active construction.
