Job summary

Ramos Consulting Services, now a part of Colliers Engineering & Design, is actively hiring an Inspector to perform field inspection work on a transit capital program covering rail and bus construction scopes. The Inspector observes field operations, verifies compliance with plans and specs, and prepares daily reports while supporting Resident Engineer duties.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transit, rail, highway, or heavy civil projects.
• Read, write and understand English for communications and reports.

Responsibilities

• Observes contractor operations and traffic conditions to support safety of workers and the traveling public.
• Monitors contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and Authority safety requirements on active transit projects.
• Performs daily field inspections to verify plans, specs, and submittals.
• Prepares accurate Inspector Daily Reports documenting weather, manpower, equipment, and work activities.
• Witnesses and documents field sampling/testing and verifies materials against submittals.
• Calculates field quantities for payment and prepares supporting documentation.
• Records as-built conditions and red-lines field drawings for project records.
• Identifies non-conforming work and tracks resolution through corrective actions.
• Identifies field conditions requiring RFIs or design clarification and elevates to the Resident Engineer.
• Supports contract administration including disputes, delays, and potential claims.
• Coordinates daily with superintendents and QC personnel to manage work sequencing and conflicts.
• Ensures work near rail right-of-way complies with safety protocols and track procedures.
• Maintains accurate project records and ensures policy compliance.
• Ensures conformance with all contract documents.
