Transit Field Inspector – Construction Oversight

Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a motivated Field Inspector to support major transit construction projects, including stations, trackwork, and facilities. You will work with the Resident Engineer, inspectors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure safety, accuracy, and conformance with project requirements.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering or Construction Management background with 1–4 years of field inspection experience in transit or heavy civil projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 1–4 years of construction, engineering, or field inspection experience (transit or heavy civil preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with construction and project management tools (Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily field oversight of contractor activities to ensure compliance with plans and safety requirements.
• Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and coordinate responses with design teams and the Resident Engineer.
• Perform field measurements, quantity tracking, and verification of installed work for payment applications.
• Document field conditions through daily reports, photos, inspection logs, and progress summaries.
• Assist with change order evaluations, cost analysis, and tracking of project risks.
• Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all field activities.
