Job summary

Ramos CS, now a part of Colliers Engineering & Design, is hiring an Inspector to perform field inspection on a transit capital program spanning rail and bus construction. The role includes daily field observation, documentation, and coordination with the Resident Engineer to ensure contract compliance.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of inspection experience, knowledge of plans and specifications, and certifications such as WAQTC/ACI or OSHA 30-Hour.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transit, rail, highway, or heavy civil public works projects.
• WAQTC, ACI, or equivalent certifications preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction preferred.
• English reading/writing proficiency for communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Observes contractor operations to support safety and compliance with regulations.
• Monitors safety requirements for work near active transit operations and rail/right-of-way.
• Performs daily field inspections ensuring compliance with plans, specs and submittals.
• Prepares Inspector Daily Reports detailing weather, manpower, equipment, work activities and quantities.
• Witnesses field testing and verifies materials match submittals and specs.
• Calculates field quantities for payment and provides supporting documentation.
• Records as-built conditions and red-lines field drawings for project records.
• Identifies non-conforming work and tracks resolution and disposition.
• Flags RFIs or design clarifications and elevates to the Resident Engineer.
• Supports contract administration, including disputes and potential claims.
• Coordinates daily with superintendents and QC personnel to plan work and resolve conflicts.
• Ensures sequencing to minimize impact on active service.
• Maintains conformance with contract documents and program standards.
