Job summary

The City of High Point is seeking a Transit Clerk to perform clerical tasks, provide schedule information to the public, and support transit operations. The role reports to the Transit Supervisor and requires interacting with passengers at the transit terminal.

Responsibilities include selling tickets, distributing schedules, assisting operators, and maintaining terminal facilities while ensuring OSHA and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Provides information and assistance to passengers boarding buses at the transit terminal
• Sells tickets; receives, records and accounts for funds and makes change
• Distributes schedules and route information, and provides directions to the public
• Cleans and maintains terminal facilities
• Assists transit operators with schedules and directions
• Monitors buses in and out of the transit terminal
• Provides security for passengers in the transit terminal areas
• Acts as receptionist and performs clerical tasks
• Answers in-coming telephone calls, provides information, receives, records, and routes complaints to appropriate personnel
• Operates two-way radio to communicate messages to Transit Operators, Supervisors, and other transit personnel
• Maintains “lost and found” service
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies
