Job summary

Sound Transit in Seattle is seeking an experienced leader to manage the agency’s regulatory code compliance framework for the capital program, facilities, and service modes across a multi‑jurisdictional landscape. You will mentor project managers, coordinate with legal, environmental, and construction teams, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules across projects.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic permitting, and collaboration with partners to reduce delivery

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or closely related field.
  • Five years of progressive experience providing increasingly advanced technical support, management, oversight, and execution of complex regulatory processes in construction, land use, public works, and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Three years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and day-to-day management of the assigned corridor permitting project management team while working closely with other agency departments, consultants, and contractors.
  • Manages strategic implementation and oversight of the agency’s comprehensive regulatory code compliance framework and permitting strategies across the capital program and transit modes.
  • Leads, manages, and resolves complex permitting and regulatory issues for capital projects across all phases of the lifecycle.
  • Develops regulatory analysis related to codes, planning, land use, and environmental issues; researches viability and policy changes.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with local, state, and federal partners and negotiates regulatory strategies.
