Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Training and Development Specialist II at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center. The role focuses on planning, delivering, and evaluating competency-based training for staff serving Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities include orientation, refresher training, and developing interactive curricula, with opportunities for advancement and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience providing training or education to adults.
• Ability to lift approximately 55 pounds in training scenarios.
• Must obtain CPR instructor certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and conducts training classes in group or computer-lab settings.
• Evaluates employee competencies and skills as required by policy and course requirements.
• Acts as a substitute trainer to ensure ongoing class delivery.
• Maintains training records and generates reports on training completion.
• Develops curriculum materials and uses engaging methods to teach.
