Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field required.
• Two years of professional experience in higher education, including admissions, advising or student services.
• Familiarity with transfer students and related policies.
• Knowledge of FERPA and student data privacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized transfer student advising using developmental approaches.
• Meet prospective transfer students for course selection and pre-matriculation advising.
• Assist with enrollment transitions, course registration, and orientation information.
• Explain degree requirements and transfer credit evaluation toward degree progress.
• Support academic planning, course selection, and career exploration.
• Use DegreeWorks, Schedule Planner, EAB Navigate, TES to monitor progress and document interactions.
• Maintain regular contact with advisees across channels.
• Refer students to campus resources (financial aid, counseling, tutoring, etc.).
• Apply appreciative advising to identify strengths and set goals.
• Develop partnerships with community college advisors and articulate agreements.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Registrar, and transfer coordinators on cohorts and credit evaluations.
• Advise in transfer programming and events and support program assessment.
• Engage in professional development and accreditation efforts.
• Report on enrollment, retention, and program outcomes.
