Job summary

Morgan State University is seeking a Student Financial Wellness and Aid Counselor to integrate financial wellness programming with financial aid administration. The role focuses on coaching students on budgeting, debt management, and informed borrowing while also handling a small portion of student aid packaging in line with federal and institutional policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial aid counseling and/or financial wellness education.
• Demonstrated experience working with first‑generation college students and students from underrepresented communities.
• Strong understanding of Title IV regulations, FHA process, and financial aid systems (e.g., Banner, COD, NSLDS).

Responsibilities

• Provide financial wellness coaching and education to students, including budgeting, credit, loan management, and saving strategies.
• Assist with financial aid processing for a subset of the student population and guide FAFSA completion, verification, and packaging.
• Develop culturally responsive education materials and collaborate with campus partners to expand outreach.
• Coordinate and host annual financial wellness events for first‑year students and track engagement metrics.
