Transfer Station Loader/Operator

Position Overview

Apply at our Janesville, Wisconsin location. This is a part-time role scheduled from 4 PM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday. The pay rate ranges from $28 to $32 per hour, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Open and close the facility according to the scheduled hours.
2. Oversee truck schedules, dumping sites, and trailer switching.
3. Operate site equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
4. Maintain cleanliness in public areas and follow cleaning schedules.
5. Ensure safety compliance for all customers and staff.
6. Manage housekeeping and maintenance tasks.
7. Meet loading schedules and ensure timely driver loads.
8. Maintain a clean work environment, including washing units weekly and cleaning interiors daily.
9. Direct incoming trucks to appropriate unloading areas safely.
10. Perform safety checks, report mechanical issues, and complete required documentation.
11. Manage the transfer station in the absence of management.
12. Participate in safety and branch meetings.
13. Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience; or equivalent.
• SWANA Transfer Worker Certification preferred within six months.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, understand, and communicate simple instructions and memos.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and staff.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in loud environments.
• Visual acuity and sensory abilities as described.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to loud noise, weather conditions, chemicals, and mechanical parts.
• Primarily outdoor work environment, 95% of the time.
