Transfer Station Loader/Operator
Position Overview
Apply at our Janesville, Wisconsin location. This is a part-time role scheduled from 4 PM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday. The pay rate ranges from $28 to $32 per hour, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and close the facility according to the scheduled hours.
- Oversee truck schedules, dumping sites, and trailer switching.
- Operate site equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain cleanliness in public areas and follow cleaning schedules.
- Ensure safety compliance for all customers and staff.
- Manage housekeeping and maintenance tasks.
- Meet loading schedules and ensure timely driver loads.
- Maintain a clean work environment, including washing units weekly and cleaning interiors daily.
- Direct incoming trucks to appropriate unloading areas safely.
- Perform safety checks, report mechanical issues, and complete required documentation.
- Manage the transfer station in the absence of management.
- Participate in safety and branch meetings.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience; or equivalent.
- SWANA Transfer Worker Certification preferred within six months.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate simple instructions and memos.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and staff.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in loud environments.
- Visual acuity and sensory abilities as described.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to loud noise, weather conditions, chemicals, and mechanical parts.
- Primarily outdoor work environment, 95% of the time.
