Job Description: Forklift Operator/Dock Staff
Reports to: Logistics Manager
Job Summary
- This position requires a motivated individual with forklift experience. Responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks into and out of the receiving docks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. The dock staff must maintain a steady flow of trucks to supply the sorting line and service drivers effectively. Accurate paperwork completion and documentation of load issues via photographs are essential. The role also involves loading supplies and containers for delivery, maintaining cleanliness and organization of trucks and storage areas, and safely storing materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with team members to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
- Work with the dock supervisor to optimize unloading and departure schedules.
- Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure proper grading.
- Ensure trailers are clean and correctly prepared for delivery.
- Maintain an organized work area on the dock and throughout the facility.
- Assist drivers as needed and communicate with supervisors for unusual requests.
- Document and report problem loads with photographs for immediate customer notification and resolution.
- Follow all safety regulations.
Job Impact

Requirements
- Ability to work well with others and follow instructions.
- Must complete forklift and skid loader safety training.
- Computer literacy required.
- Ability to unload and organize materials from trucks.
- Ability to grade and organize materials correctly.
- Maintain and inspect forklifts regularly.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to move and stack pallets, lift up to 50 lbs.
