The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for the position of Transfer Specialist

Essential Functions

The Transfer Specialist reports to the Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment and serves as the primary point of contact for prospective transfer students within an assigned recruitment territory. This position is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and admitting academically qualified traditional and non-traditional students in alignment with the University’s admissions philosophy and enrollment goals. The Transfer Specialist plays a critical role in guiding students through the transfer process, building strong relationships with internal and external partners, and supporting institutional enrollment strategies through data-informed recruitment efforts and exceptional student service.

  1. Maintains student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  2. Manages, recruits, and enrolls prospective students in a designated market; manages a recruitment territory.
  3. Develops recruitment strategies, plans and arranges all phases of regional and local travel.
  4. Responsible for corresponding with prospective students through CRM systems to include: text messaging, email and phone.
  5. Processes admission applications, evaluates transfer records, and makes recommendations and/or decisions on for admission based on University admissions requirements.
  6. Organizes and attends Admissions events; supports and attends University special events and programs, both on and off campus, to identify, attract, and ultimately recruit students for the University.
  7. Manages queries and creates reports for the purpose of measuring, analyzing, and assessing admissions data and results.
  8. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, colleagues, students, and members of the University staff.
  9. Must be highly organized, able to manage multiple projects with skill and great attention to detail and possess extraordinary customer service.
  10. Able to provide effective, dynamic presentations and speak in front of both small and large groups of people. Demonstrates good public speaking skills.
  11. Confers regularly with immediate supervisor, other departments/University personnel, and/or various firms/organizations/individuals external to the University to exchange information and resolve problems.
  12. Self-motivated to stay current with emerging office technologies, recommend and implement improvements.
  13. Possess a valid unencumbered driver’s license and able to travel extensively for the University.

Required Qualifications

  3. Must possess excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  4. Able to travel locally for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree
  2. Familiar with PeopleSoft and Slate or CRM.
  3. Previous experience with community college.
  4. Fluent in Spanish.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions
  1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
  3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
  4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
  5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
