Job summary

The University of Texas Permian Basin invites applications for a Senior Slate CRM Developer in ITS. You will design, develop, and optimize Slate CRM solutions, configure workflows, and manage data integrations with university systems.

Qualifications

Senior Slate CRM Developer - Information Technology Services (ITS)

The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Information Technology Services welcomes applications for the position of Senior Slate CRM Developer

Salary Range

Essential Functions
Slate CRM Engineering and Platform Administration
  1. Serve as the senior technical resource for Slate CRM, independently designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing complex platform solutions within approved University architecture and security requirements.
  2. Configure and customize Slate applications, portals, forms, workflows, communications, data-collection processes, Reader workflows, application processing, events, and related enrollment functions.
  3. Administer user permissions, security roles, and system configurations in coordination with designated data owners, cybersecurity requirements, and institutional access standards.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, workflow, performance, and integration issues and serve as the senior operational technical escalation point for Slate.
Database Engineering, Data Quality, and Reporting
  1. Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, views, reports, data extracts, and relational data structures supporting admissions, recruitment, communications, and student-portal operations.
  2. Design and maintain validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and data-quality processes that promote accurate, complete, secure, and consistent information across Slate workflows.
  3. Develop and support enrollment reports, operational dashboards, and analytics data products and identify opportunities to improve data quality and business processes through automation.
Enterprise Integration and Data Exchange
  1. Design, develop, document, and maintain integrations between Slate and University systems, including student information, identity management, ERP, data warehouse, financial aid, and approved third-party services.
  2. Develop API, web-service, ETL, and other data-exchange solutions with appropriate transformation logic, validation, error handling, security, monitoring, and recovery processes.
  3. Monitor integration performance and data synchronization, resolve complex failures, and coordinate cross-system remediation with application owners and technical partners.
Custom Application Development and Software Delivery
  1. Develop custom applications, scripts, automation solutions, and reusable components that support admissions and enrollment operations and reduce unnecessary one-off customization.
  2. Establish and apply scalable development, source-control, testing, debugging, deployment, rollback, and documentation practices for Slate-related changes.
  3. Define technical test approaches and acceptance criteria for complex functionality and verify production readiness, data integrity, performance, and supportability.
Technical Architecture, Standards, and Senior-Level Leadership
  1. Lead Slate solution design and provide senior technical input into architecture planning while final enterprise architecture and technology-policy authority remain with designated University leadership.
  2. Create, maintain, and communicate Slate development standards, reusable patterns, technical documentation requirements, and best practices.
  3. Perform technical design or code reviews, provide estimates and risk assessments for complex work, and guide the resolution of cross-functional technical dependencies.
  4. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers, analysts, and system administrators and lead assigned technical workstreams without exercising personnel-management authority unless separately assigned.
Stakeholder Consultation, Documentation, and Continuous Improvement
  1. Collaborate with campus stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements, evaluate technical alternatives, explain risks and tradeoffs, and develop innovative, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  2. Maintain current technical documentation for Slate configurations, integrations, data flows, dependencies, support procedures, and development standards.
  3. Participate in roadmap and strategic planning for enrollment technology systems and recommend platform, process, data-quality, and service improvements.
Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Seven (7) years of professional software development, application development, or comparable enterprise-application development experience.
  3. Five (5) years of experience administering, developing, or supporting CRM, ERP, or other enterprise applications.
  4. Advanced experience developing and optimizing SQL and working with relational database design and enterprise data structures.
  5. Experience designing and supporting integrations using APIs, web services, ETL, or comparable data-exchange technologies.
  6. Experience with software-development lifecycle practices, including requirements analysis, testing, debugging, deployment, documentation, and source control.
  7. Demonstrated experience independently leading complex application or integration work, establishing technical standards, or performing technical design or code reviews.
  8. Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicating technical risks and dependencies to nontechnical stakeholders.
  9. Experience applying data-governance, information-security, access-control, and data-integrity requirements in an enterprise application environment.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions
  1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
  3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
  4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
  5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
