Job summary

Montgomery County Planning Department is seeking an undergraduate or graduate Training and Development Intern to gain hands-on experience in learning and development, employee engagement, leadership development, and training administration. The role collaborates with the Human Resources team on high-impact projects shaping workplace culture.

The intern will assist with calendar management, LMS tasks, and event logistics while developing communications and resources for mentoring and ERG

Qualifications

• Enrolled in college or university at undergrad or grad level; minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale).
• Intern I: pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's in HR management, HRD, industrial psychology, psychology, or related field.
• Intern II: Bachelor's + enrolled in Master’s in HRM/HRD/Industrial psychology/psychology or related field.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Canva; experience with presentations, marketing materials, webpages, or data analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and maintenance of the annual training calendar.
• Support LMS administration: create events, maintain records, assist users.
• Coordinate pre- and post-training logistics with staff, vendors, participants.
• Create training communications and materials; research facilitators and vendors.
• Support partnerships to identify cost-effective training opportunities.
