Job summary

San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is seeking a hands-on Train Control Electronic Technician to join our Maintenance & Engineering team. You’ll work on electronic and electro‑mechanical systems powering BART’s train control network, from switches and signals to circuit boards and sensors in both shop and field environments.

The ideal candidate has strong fault finding, maintenance and installation skills, high safety awareness, and the ability to read schematics and technical

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent education in electronics required.
  • One year of verifiable experience maintaining electronic/electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Valid California driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to read manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, remove and replace power supplies, relays, motors, switches and related components.
  • Replace PC boards, sensors, and related electronic components.
  • Install wiring, connectors, and assemblies for equipment modifications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software using diagnostics tools and meters.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
  • Read work requests and coordinate with foreworkers and engineers.
  • Maintain records of work, parts, and serial numbers.
  • Operate district vehicles and possibly high-rail vehicles.
