Job summary

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) seeks a Senior Electronics & Communications Engineer to join our Electronics and Communications Engineering team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This advanced journey-level position applies deep technical expertise to keep BART's telephone, radio, public address, and automated fare collection systems running reliably.

You will lead design, development, testing, and maintenance across the project lifecycle, review contractor submittals, write software as needed,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.
• Minimum three years of verifiable professional electronics or communications engineering experience.
• Experience with contract administration, design reviews and project scheduling.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Ability to prepare technical specifications and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced electronics and communications engineering work across the full project lifecycle.
• Provide engineering and software support during design review, testing and implementation.
• Review designs, coordinate installation, and direct change orders with contractors.
• Design or modify equipment, write code, build prototypes and document activities.
• Lead, train and supervise junior staff, and help shape standards and policies.
• Support budgets, scheduling and contract administration for assigned projects.
• Communicate clearly with District officials, contractors and the public.
• Stay current with trends and innovations in electronics and communications engineering.
• Assist in developing project goals and ensuring data interfaces are compatible.
• Participate in selection and training of staff as needed.
