Job summary

The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) seeks a Principal Integration Engineer to lead CBTC and Train Control integration with legacy systems. You will guide the full lifecycle from requirements to testing and commissioning, coordinating with operations, maintenance, and external partners to ensure safe, reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Advanced technical knowledge of CBTC, conventional Train Control, railway signaling, interlockings, auto train protection, operation, supervision, train detection, and related comms systems.
• Experience leading Train Control requirements, design, interface management, system integration, verification/validation, testing, commissioning, cutover, and in-service support.
• Experience integrating CBTC with conventional Train Control, Rolling Stock, wayside equipment, communications, and Operations Control Center systems.
• Experience investigating incidents, performing root-cause analysis, interpreting diagnostic data, and implementing corrective actions.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering work, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and resolve safety-critical issues.
• Strong technical-writing, communication, decision-making, stakeholder coordination, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and coordinating system interfaces and designs.
• Mentoring engineering team members and coordinating with external contractors.
• Leading testing activities across lab, field, and operational scenarios.
• Supporting commissioning and cutover, managing contingency plans.
