Job summary

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is seeking a Senior Electronics & Communications Engineer to advance the District’s critical voice, data, and fare-collection infrastructure. You will drive design, testing, and deployment across projects while guiding engineering staff and coordinating with contractors.

The position emphasizes leadership, complex problem solving, and strategic resource allocation to ensure reliable operations for the Bay Area’s busiest transit system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.
• Three years of verifiable professional electronics or communications engineering experience.
• Experience with project scheduling, contract administration, and budgeting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced electronics and communications engineering work for development, modification and maintenance of systems.
• Establishes schedules and methods for engineering and software support; monitors contracted services and allocates resources.
• Provides engineering and software support during design review, testing and implementation of projects.
• Coordinates project activities with contractors; reviews submittals and ensures data interfaces are compatible.
• Designs or modifies equipment; writes code; builds and tests prototypes; prepares technical documentation.
• Leads and trains lower-level staff, participates in policy updates, and helps refine engineering standards.
