Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Shop Trailer Mechanic I for an on-site shop position in the United States. You will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs on trailers and trucks under supervision.

You will assist senior technicians, learn advanced mechanical skills, and help meet high performance standards. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, your own hand tools, and compliance with DOT/FMCSA rules.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and up to 2 years’ related experience.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge and ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification required within 18 months; ASE 608/609 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times.
• Determine parts required and coordinate with Parts Department.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and tidy tools and equipment.
• Apply training to diagnose and repair trailer systems and components.
• Collaborate with Service Writer to assess customer needs and provide estimates.
• Manage multiple tasks with prioritization and time management.
• Complete DOT forms and documentation accurately in a timely manner.
• Perform PM inspections, DOT inspections, and routine maintenance on trailers and vehicles.
• Perform minor repairs on brakes, air lines, liftgates, pumps, and related systems.
• Maintain and service shop service trucks and perform pre/post trip inspections.
