Job summary

Depot Connect International is seeking a DOT-certified mechanic for our Decatur, IL location. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems on tank trailers, perform tank service and suspension work, and ensure compliance with DOT HM183 hazmat standards.

The role includes TIG/MIG welding as needed, with a Monday–Friday shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm, and a pay range dependent on experience. Benefits include health coverage, 401(k) matching, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• DOT certification required or equivalent
• 3–5+ years of tank and trailer repair experience
• Ability to diagnose failures and perform repairs on mechanical and electrical systems

Responsibilities

• Diagnose failures and repair mechanical, electrical, or related systems on tank trailers.
• Perform tank service and trailer repairs.
• Install and repair trailer suspensions; inspect and repair air brake systems.
• Operate TIG/MIG welding where applicable; ensure DOT HM183 compliance.

We are currently searching for DOT certified mechanics with 3-5+ year(s) of tank & trailer repair experience for our Decatur, IL location!

Shift Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00am- 3:30pm.

Pay Range: Dependent on experience.

(Skill-based pay rate reviews and potential increases every 6 months.)

Demonstrated skill in most of the following areas:

• The ability to diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, electrical or other various systems on a tank trailer.
• Tank service and repair
• Trailer suspension installation and repair
• Experience with air brake systems and repairs
• TIG & MIG aluminum, stainless or carbon welding experience (preferred)
• Ability to effectively and efficiently inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (HM183, hazmat)
• Must obtain a High School Diploma or GED

Physical Demands:

• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• With assistance, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to fit through a tank trailer manhole
• Must be able to work in confined spaces
