Job summary

The City of Twin Falls is seeking a Traffic Technician to maintain, operate, and improve traffic signal and transportation systems throughout our community. This position supports safe and efficient travel by troubleshooting electrical and computerized traffic systems, analyzing traffic conditions, and helping identify improvements.

We are looking for someone technically skilled, safety-minded, dependable, and able to troubleshoot electrical and traffic control systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician or ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, monitor, maintain, update, and repair City traffic signal systems.
  • Work with traffic control panels, beacons, emergency preemption systems, video, radar, and other detection equipment.
  • Perform traffic controller maintenance, programming, and signal timing.
  • Maintain and program school beacons and speed-reduction systems.
  • Assist with the design and review of streets, roads, driveways, and traffic control plans.
  • Conduct traffic counts, speed studies, parking studies, and other traffic research.
  • Analyze traffic data and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with traffic signal upgrades and other transportation projects.
  • Plan and coordinate street lighting installations.
  • Work with contractors, developers, law enforcement, transportation agencies, and the public on traffic-related issues.
