Job summary

City of Twin Falls is seeking a Traffic Technician to help maintain, operate, and improve traffic signal and transportation systems throughout our community. This position troubleshoots electrical and computerized traffic systems, analyzes conditions, and supports safe, efficient travel.

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, dependable, and capable of obtaining Journeyman Electrician licensure within six months.

Qualifications

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, layouts, and technical documents.
  • Ability to work with traffic signals, electrical systems, and computerized equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, monitor, maintain, update, and repair City traffic signal systems.
  • Work with traffic control panels, beacons, emergency preemption systems, video, radar, and other detection equipment.
  • Perform traffic controller maintenance, programming, and signal timing.
  • Maintain and program school beacons and speed-reduction systems.
  • Assist with the design and review of streets, roads, driveways, and traffic control plans.
  • Conduct traffic counts, speed studies, parking studies, and other traffic research.
  • Analyze traffic data and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with traffic signal upgrades and other transportation projects.
  • Plan and coordinate street lighting installations.
  • Work with contractors, developers, law enforcement, transportation agencies, and the public on traffic-related issues.
