Job summary

The City of Twin Falls is hiring a Traffic Technician to maintain, operate, and improve traffic signal and transportation systems throughout the community. The role involves troubleshooting electrical and computerized traffic systems, analyzing traffic conditions, and identifying improvements for safe, efficient travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician or ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, monitor, maintain, update, and repair City traffic signal systems.
  • Work with traffic control panels, beacons, emergency preemption systems, video, radar, and other detection equipment.
  • Perform traffic controller maintenance, programming, and signal timing.
  • Maintain and program school beacons and speed-reduction systems.
  • Assist with the design and review of streets, roads, driveways, and traffic control plans.
  • Conduct traffic counts, speed studies, parking studies, and other traffic research.
  • Analyze traffic data and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with traffic signal upgrades and other transportation projects.
  • Plan and coordinate street lighting installations.
  • Work with contractors, developers, law enforcement, transportation agencies, and the public on traffic-related issues.
