Job summary

The City of Twin Falls is seeking a Traffic Technician to maintain, operate, and improve traffic signal and transportation systems throughout our community.

You’ll troubleshoot electrical and computerized systems, analyze conditions, and work with crews, engineering staff, and the public to ensure safe, efficient travel.

This position requires a Journeyman Electrician license or ability to obtain within six months, plus a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, monitor, maintain, update, and repair City traffic signal systems.
  • Work with traffic control panels, beacons, emergency preemption systems, video, radar, and other detection equipment.
  • Perform traffic controller maintenance, programming, and signal timing.
  • Maintain and program school beacons and speed-reduction systems.
  • Assist with the design and review of streets, roads, driveways, and traffic control plans.
  • Conduct traffic counts, speed studies, parking studies, and other traffic research.
  • Analyze traffic data and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with traffic signal upgrades and other transportation projects.
  • Plan and coordinate street lighting installations.
  • Work with contractors, developers, law enforcement, transportation agencies, and the public on traffic-related issues.
