Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation seeks an Engineer II (NS) in the Traffic Safety Planning Group to provide technical leadership and crash analyses for Transportation Improvement Program projects.

You will lead road safety assessments, develop GIS maps and collision diagrams, coordinate with teams, and contribute to procedures that improve highway safety statewide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and investigative support for Transportation Improvement Program projects.
• Develop alternative analyses using Highway Safety Manual methodologies.
• Lead crash analyses and crash mapping (GIS diagrams) for internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with project teams and manage safety-related procedures and best practices.
