Job summary
NC Department of Transportation seeks an Engineer II (NS) to provide technical leadership in the Safety Planning Group for Transportation Improvement Program projects in Wake County. The role focuses on safety analyses, project development support, and data-driven recommendations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience
- Knowledge of traffic engineering, transportation engineering and civil engineering principles
- Experience with computer software and computer drawing packages
- Ability to communicate engineering concepts clearly for varied audiences
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and investigative support for Transportation Improvement Program projects
- Lead road safety assessment teams and develop recommendations based on Highway Safety Manual methodologies
- Prepare collision diagrams and GIS mapping for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with safety data collection, analysis and reporting for project reviews
- Coordinate with teams to manage the ordinance program and route change processes
