Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to support our transportation team in Raleigh, NC. You will work on traffic operations, safety, and roadway design, collaborating with designers, planners, and senior engineers to deliver high-quality plans and documentation.

The role involves preparing signal design, signing, pavement marking, and work zone plans in line with NCDOT and DOT standards, with opportunities to engage in client meetings and project coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• EIT certification preferred or obtained.
• 2–6+ years of traffic engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic engineering and traffic design tasks for road and intersection improvements.
• Prepare traffic signal and signing plans per MUTCD and DOT standards.
• Create technical memoranda, reports, and documentation for clients.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate traffic design.
• Apply DOT, MUTCD, and local agency standards to tasks.
• Assist senior engineers with data collection and field observations.
• Participate in client meetings and regulatory coordination.
