Job summary

HNTB is seeking a leader for the traffic and safety engineering discipline in the Central States region. This role will manage a team of 6-8 engineers across Kansas City and nearby offices, overseeing budgeting, staffing, and project delivery from feasibility through construction.

The ideal candidate has a PE, 8+ years of engineering experience with leadership, and strong capability in traffic and safety analysis. Master’s degree and PM certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8 years of practical experience including 2 years of leadership.
• Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification required or preferred.
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Responsibilities

• Develops, monitors and manages the section's operating budget.
• Manages a group of 6-8 traffic and safety engineers and coordinates staff assignments.
• Recruit, hire, develop and retain section staff with performance and compensation reviews.
• Lead project management activities including scope, schedule, budget and quality control.
• Support SSA, SCA and SDA processes in project pursuits and delivery.
• Participate in client discovery, proposals, interviews and win-to-work activities.
• Mentor staff to improve team performance and staff development.
