Job summary

City of Laredo seeks a senior engineer to oversee the Traffic Division operations, including Engineering (Traffic), Signals, Parking, Signs/Markings, and Permits. You will conduct traffic studies, analyze accidents, and drive process improvements across the division.

The role requires supervising staff, developing budgets, coordinating projects, and presenting findings to City Council and external stakeholders. A Texas PE licensure pathway is required within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field.
• Minimum seven years of professional engineering experience, including two in supervisory role.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas to be obtained within 18 months of employment.
• Valid Texas Driver License (or must obtain after hire).

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing maintenance and operations of all traffic division operations.
• Conduct traffic studies and investigations on traffic flow and accidents.
• Supervise staff, assign work, and review performance to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Develop signal timing optimization plans and review highway plans for compliance.
• Prepare reports, budgets, and presentations; represent department in meetings.
